Posting Messages

Posting a New Topic message

First, select a Conference to which you want to post. You can tell that a Conference has been selected when there is a "-.gif (180 bytes)" (minus) sign to the left of the conference name. In the image below, the Conference called,  "Orientation" has been selected.

Then click the black Post button from the Menu bar.

Or, you can also post a New Topic Message by clicking Post in the link area of a message:

In either case, you are presented with the box below in which to type your message.

 


 

Using HTML in your messages

If you know some HTML, you can include tags in your message if this box is checked.

 


Sending an Anonymous Message

If you check the Anonymous box, the message will be sent from anonymous and will not show your name.

 


Previewing a Message

If you check the Preview box, you will have the chance to view how your message will look, and make changes before it is sent.

 


Spell Check a Message Before Sending

If you click the Preview/Spell check box, you can both preview the appearance of your message, and also check for spelling errors using WebBoard's built in dictionary. WebBoard will underline any words it thinks are misspelled

 


Attaching a File to a Message

If you want to upload a picture, audio file, or a document to WebBoard, check the Attach file check box.


The file attachment dialog box as seen below opens. You should select the category of file from the list and click Browse to find the file on your computer that you want to display in WebBoard.

 


 

Deleting a Message

From the link area of a message, click the Delete link. You may only delete a message if you have posted it, or if you are the manager or moderator of a Board or Conference. In the link area below, the Delete link is not active, indicating that the message cannot be deleted.

Replying to a Message

From the link area of a message, click the Reply link. The reply box as seen below appears allowing you to reply to a message within a Conference and within a Topic

 


 

Replying to a Message with Quotes

From the link area of a message, click the Reply/Quote link. The reply box as seen below appears allowing you to reply and to include in your message the quoted message to which you are replying. You can edit the quote to include only the part you are replying to.

Send Private Email

From the link area of a message, click the Email Reply link. The default email program opens so you can reply directly to the poster of the message.

 


 

Navigate Within Messages

Click Previous or Next to move to the previous message or the next message. Click Previous Topic or Next Topic to skip directly to the previous topic or next topic.
