An important tip: You may wish to print out the pages of this tutorial so you can read them while you are logged into WebBoard. |
Definitions Some explanation is necessary before you go through the WebBoard Tutorial. The following significant terms and features are highlighted in red. In the WebBoard vernacular, there are several key terms with which each user must be familiar: Conferences are the areas in which your instructor has organized discussion topics. Conferences are the virtual discussions that make up your online course. Conferences generally contain important information like class lessons, the syllabus, and other course materials. When you double click on a Conference, it will expand to show a series of topics within it. When your instructor adds materials to your course, they will be added to a specific conference such as "Orientation" or "WK 1 - Lecture," etc. Example of Conferences in WebBoard:
Topics are listed within each conference. A topic is a specific subject of a conference. For example, in the Conference called, "Orientation," there are two Topics: "Pre-Course Quiz" and "Bio Assignment." Example of Topics within a Conference in WebBoard:
Messages are sent in a thread within a Topic by selecting the "Reply to" button after you read a message. You may read any message in a Topic, whether it is from you, your classmates, or your Instructor. Each message is identified by the Topic and Conference to which it pertains, the name of the person who sent the message, and the date on which the message was sent. Example of Messages within a Topic in WebBoard.
